Built by the Fowler family in the early 1600s with two parallel ranges. The Ash Manor is a three-storey building constructed with red brick and a tiled roof. The property has a string course above each floor and a projection in the centre containing a porch on the ground floor with 2 storeys above it (surrounded by a gable). There are small gables over the outer second floor windows, three sash windows with glazing bars intact and chimney breasts at the north and south ends of the east range. There are also some casement windows in the north wall, and the interior contains C17 twisted balusters at the top of the stairs. The property features fine late C18 painted pine panelling, several C17 panelled rooms and a Priest’s hole.

Wye College, also known as the College of St Gregory and St Martin at Wye, was an educational school in the small town of Wye, Kent, England, 60 miles (100 km) east of London in the North Downs area. It was created in 1447 as a college for the training of priests by John Kempe, Archbishop of York.

Thomas Gauge (or Gange) is listed as the master of the institution in 1460. The school relocated to larger facilities in 1894, and the South Eastern Agricultural College was founded in the buildings, with Alfred Daniel Hall as principal.

The course is a gently undulating heathland/parkland course that, despite its short length, provides an entertaining challenge to players of all handicaps.

In 1936, James Braid, a five-time Open Champion, redesigned the course. The 16th hole is named after Braid, which is one of Kent’s most difficult Par 3 courses at 245 yards and an uphill green!
